Merchant Center is the back end tool that LivingSocial merchants use to track the success of their promotions, redeem vouchers from customers, and track their payments.

My first project at LivingSocial was as the lead designer for our merchant tools and I worked very closely with a few different product managers and engineers. Working with this team allowed me to really improve my skills in a fast iterative environment.

LivingSocial is great at driving customers in the door of our merchants. However it can often be a challenge to show our true value, based on amount spent over voucher or even revenue driven from repeat visits without that information being tracked by our merchants. Therefore our biggest task for merchant center is not only demonstrating the value of putting in that extra work but also making those tasks as easy as possible to complete.

Part of this project was making it easier for our website to to intake merchant applications. The results have been very successful by growing the top of the funnel but also gathering more information which allowed our team to qualify merchants quickly.

Merchant Onboarding

Recently we have developed features that allow our merchants to offer deals directly to customers through our email distribution. We have also created a tool for merchants to respond to reviews that their customers have provided. Both of these represent large shifts from our competitors and warranted a new visual design that would hopefully create more awareness around the changes as well as more of an attachment to the product.
